The exhibition “Rub the bronze dog’s nose” will be held in MMOMA on Petrovka, 25 from April, 16th to May 12th. This is the first joint project of the museum and the gallery, the main goals of which are to open an additional platform for communication and exchange of experience between young curators, as well as to enable artists of the school and the gallery to participate in new projects and, as a result, to be present on the art market.
On the 24th of April there will be an auction within the exhibition to support young art with the participation of students of the School of modern art and the gallery SAMPLE artists.
The question that the curators posed to the artists and to themselves is “how signs, superstitions and rituals can become an impulse to create a work of modern art?” Answering this question, the participants of the exhibition tried to combine archaic ideas and modern technologies, to deconstruct linguistic components or, on the contrary, to give them references to mythology and legends, to invent new superstitions and rituals as part of the author’s mythology.
