Although Olya Vorobyova is a very young photographer, she has already earned the status of a master. The key themes of her work are memory and identity. In the first image we can see a boy, the photograph was taken when the artist was in residency in China. The second photograph is from the Girl Who Used To Be project that Olga shot in a small Crimean place where she was born. According to the artist, in this project she “shot the images of femininity, while attempting not to be an objective researcher, but to internalise them, take them to heart, measure them against her personal experience [of being a woman].”
