Alexey Yakovlev

Born in Kaliningrad in 1982. In 2010 he graduated from Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University with a degree in Russian philology.

The artist says: “The big part of my figurative works are portraits and still lives inspired by my personal experiences. The depicted objects contain different stories. For example, a vase on the kitchen table was given to my mother by my classmate. Also, photographs play an important role for my works: pictures found in the family archive or taken by me become the basis for my works. “Objects,  photographs and life around provide me with everyday stories that are very important to me.”
